Babel Tulum - A Jungle Wellness Sanctuary
If you’re searching for a place in Tulum, Mexico that feels less like a hotel and more like an experience, Babel Tulum hits that sweet spot.
Nestled among the lush greenery of Tulum’s jungle area, it’s quiet, design-forward and intentionally created for travelers who want something a little more meaningful than the typical Tulum stay.
A SPACE FOR SLOW & CREATIVE LIVING
We stayed at Babel Tulum for five nights in May, and honestly, it was such a refreshing escape. The location is perfect, many of the places we wanted to explore in Tulum were just a short drive away, so it felt like the best of both worlds, close to everything but still peaceful and relaxing when we returned. Our apartment came with a balcony hot tub. You do need to ask for it to be heated, and it’s about $18 per session, but trust me, it’s completely worth it. Sitting in the warm water, overlooking the greenery, and just soaking in the calmness of the space was one of our favorite moments of the trip.
Everything about Babel feels intentional, the design, the flow of the spaces, the way the light and greenery interact, it all creates this serene, creative atmosphere that makes you want to slow down. From the tower with the hot bath in the garden, to the steam room at the base, to the pool area surrounded by plants and sunbeds, every corner is thoughtfully designed to help you relax and recharge.
It’s the kind of place that makes you feel grounded and present, and we really loved how much attention was given to both comfort and aesthetics. What really stands out about Babel is the energy. It’s designed for slow mornings, creative thinking, and actually being present. It attracts people who are a bit more conscious about how they travel. People who want to reset, reconnect, or just take a breather from the usual fast pace.
Another thing worth mentioning: Babel Tulum is dog-friendly, which is surprisingly rare for places with this kind of design focus, and also, some of the apartments are available for purchase, not just short stays. So if you end up falling in love with the space and lifestyle, there’s actually an option to stay longer-term by buying the loft.
JUNGLE VIBES & WELLNESS
Babel Tulum is set among Tulum’s jungle greenery, giving you that peaceful, almost private feeling while still being close to everything that matters.
Within a short drive, you’ll find beach bars, restaurants, cafés, popular cenotes, and the Tulum ruins. It also makes a perfect base if you’re planning day trips a bit further out. You can easily drive to Valladolid to explore its colorful streets and colonial charm, or make the trip to Chichen Itza to see one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It’s a great way to mix local jungle serenity with iconic Yucatán experiences.
The central tower sits in the middle of the garden area, serving as Babel’s centrepiece. Around it, the pool area stretches out, complete with sunbeds and lush tropical plants, creating a serene oasis for lounging and slow afternoons. At the bottom of the tower, you’ll find the steam room, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. At the top, a huge hot tub sits under a partially open ceiling. You can see the sky above, while architectural details filter the sunlight in soft, playful patterns.
If you want to take the wellness experience a step further, you can also add on yoga classes or massage treatments during your stay.
There’s also B Café at Babel Tulum located on the property, offering coffee, pastries, and light breakfast options.
THE ARCHITECTURE THAT FEELS ALIVE
One of the first things you notice about Babel Tulum is its architecture. Designed by V Taller, the entire space feels like it naturally belongs to its surroundings. The design is all about flow. Light moves through the space effortlessly, and the boundaries between inside and outside are intentionally blurred. It creates this constant connection to nature without sacrificing comfort.
Inside, Carlos y Pablo bring warmth and soul into the design. Natural textures, earthy tones, and carefully chosen materials make every space feel calm, grounded, and honestly just really good to exist in.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There are a lot of beautiful hotels in Tulum for sure, but Babel feels different in a more subtle way. A stay here doesn’t just feel like booking a hotel, it feels like stepping into a little sanctuary in the heart of Tulum and we honestly can’t wait to go back one day.
