Dihya Desert Camp - A Unique Stay in the Sahara Desert
Visiting the Sahara Desert is one of those experiences that stays with you forever, and our stay at Dihya Desert Luxury Camp was nothing short of magical.
We arrived at the camp just after sunset, and the moment we stepped out, the golden dunes stretched endlessly before us. Before checking in, we even had a short camel ride to watch the sunset. At first, I wasn’t sure about riding camels, but our guides reassured us that the camels were well cared for, didn’t carry heavy loads, and only do this occasionally. Once on their backs, it was smooth and comfortable, and watching the sun sink behind the dunes was simply unforgettable.
Back at the camp, we gathered around the fire with other guests. The food was incredible, the team was warm and welcoming, and the quiet of the desert made everything feel surreal. But the real show began when we looked up the stars. We’ve never seen a night sky so bright and full, stretching endlessly above us. We stayed outside until 2 a.m., completely mesmerized, even though we knew we wanted to wake early for sunrise. It was exhausting, but every second of lost sleep was worth it.
The next morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes. Seeing the first light hit the sand was simple and beautiful and it set the tone for the rest of the day.
Dihya Desert Camp is comfortable and well set up, with cozy tents, good food, and activities like sandboarding. The staff are welcoming and make everything effortless. Each tent is designed as a private retreat, complete with its own ensuite bathroom for total comfort and ease. Inside, thoughtfully crafted furnishings bring warmth and character, blending style with a cozy atmosphere. And while you’re surrounded by the serenity of the desert, WiFi is available if you need to stay connected (although I highly recommend to turn on the do not disturb mode while you are there).
